‘Om Abed lives in a bend of the main street in Tel Rumeida, close to the settlement, with an Israeli soldier 24h on 24h in front of her house. She is a housewife and lives there with her husband, her mother-in-law and her 4 children, of whom 3 girls. The youngest Zainab (6y) was attacked on her way to the store last year, by settler children, and had severe wounds on her face and arms. The other daughter Jana (now 9y) was a baby of 18 months when she got a stone on her head during a brutal attack of settlers. Her eye sight has been affected ever since. I stayed many nights in the house of ‘Om Abed who is extremely hospitable and together with her daughters fed me baked sweets and showed me lots of love. Like most Palestinian families who still live here now, ‘Om Abed is very sure of never leaving this house, despite the violence her children are subject to.
